Today the foundation team from Arapahoe Concrete closed off the temporary gap in the forms that we had been using to get into the basement area. Never again will we walk into the basement from a side entrance. They also completed putting up most of the inner forms today. The next major goal is to attach the embeds to the forms and if all goes well we will be pouring the concrete for the foundation walls in the next week or so.
Today my good friend Kenny Lombardi stopped by to check on the project progress. Kenny has an extensive background in property development and has been providing us with advice since the start of the project. It has been an amazing blessing to have Kenny helping us navigate the path to completing this build.
Today our structural steel company, Barton Supply, provided access to a 3D model of the steel for our building. I spent some time tonight flying around the virtual structure and thought I would share an image from the model.
My wife, daughter and I went down into the pit today to look at the progress. It is so rewarding to see physical work being done after almost two years of dreaming and looking at drawings. We feel very blessed to have the opportunity to do this project and we can’t wait to share the finished building with the community. All of that said I had to chuckle a bit when I reflected on how much time and money we have spent so far to basically have a large hole in the ground. For the moment the project is the definition of a money pit :-).
